Stacy Tarlow Photography Blog bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

i got interested in photography because.....
it's a burning passion for me. i have had a camera since forever but
i got my real film SLR camera when i was 17. i took a lot of classes,
but when i took my classes at International Center of Photography in
NYC, that was when the fire really started to burn. i continue to take
classes and workshops around the country and work with my mentors. i
will never stop learning my craft. you know you are passionate about
something when it's all you think about. it fills my every thought.
that is how i feel about photography.

describe your family

i've been married to Brad for 8 years. we have five-year-old
boy/girl twins. we have a crazy house that's full of life - in a lot of ways. no matter how crazy things can get, there is a lot of love in the house. i am blessed every day.

if i could photograph any person, dead or alive, it would be....
my grandfather, linwood seeley. he died when i was two. he was only
52. i never got a chance to know him, but i know how much my dad loved
and adored him. and to photograph the love between my dad and his dad
would have been priceless.

the best pizza on the planet is....
patsy's pizza in spanish harlem in NYC - 118th street & 1st avenue.

my favorite girl scout cookie is.....
is there one??? all right. if i must choose one, it would be thin mints.

my favorite TV show at the moment....
Real Housewives of NYC or Orange County. what a train wreck!! love it!

i love.....
being in maine at the lake, going for a run, the movies, the sweet
sound of our kids playing (when they're not fighting), the smell of my
mom's apple pie (and eating it!), cotton candy and my girlfriends.

i can't wait to learn more about you and your family and capture some of your favorite memories through photography.

sometimes you meet people in your life where you just click. no pretense, no bullsh%t – you just click. that was paula. first off, she is an amazing jewlery designer and HAND MAKES her own line of jewelry which can be found here.  amazing, amazing jewelry.  i own quite a few pieces.  fun, casual but can be dressed up….love her stuff.  so one day while i was “shopping”, i told her, “i’d love to take new head shots for your website”.  the ball started rolling and we finally met up.  i know it’s difficult getting your picture taken -ugh!  but she did an amazing job!!!  the result — beautiful pictures of a beautiful lady.

please go check out her website and if you want to purchase anything, she’s giving my readers/friends/clients at 30% off discount code. make sure at checkout you type “friendsandfamily” to receive the discount. she also has really cool watches for sale which you can find here – you need at least two, trust me!!!

twins – love twins. for a couple of reasons….they’re darn cute and because i have twins and i know the mom can relate. we met late in the afternoon at rye town park. late afternoon means warm, yummy, hazy afternoon light. it’s my favorite time to take pictures. here’s a sneak peak from the session. (did the mom pick the most amazing colors for the kids?? purple and orange!!! love that!)

yes this picture isn’t in focus. yes it’s blurry. but to me, i love the kids running and being kids. nothing better.

i have soooo many pictures of her standing in the sun. the sun hitting the back of her creates this halo around her, or maybe that’s because she’s an angel?? she’s truly beautiful. and i caught some sun flare to boot. bonus!!

i know i’ve said this before but i really have the best families to photograph. and this family was no exception. sweet, kind, gracious – just wonderful to be around. they were my first from my mini sessions of the spring. it was a beautiful day at oakland beach in rye, ny. i hope they had as much fun as i did. here’s a little sneak peak from the session.

wait – who’s that in the picture?? i had to take a picture of miss p and me. such an adorable little girl.

thank you “h” family for allowing me to capture your beautiful family.

i’ve met a lot of people in my life – yes, i’m THAT old. when i met jacey, she made me feel welcomed into our small community. not only that, she’s freakin’ hysterical. i love a girl with a sense of humor who gets my jokes and doesn’t take things too personally….that’s jacey. not only is she a good person – she has an amazing business. go look at here site here.  she’s super creative!!!  please give her a call if you ever need any tshirts, party favors or just cool stuff.  i highly recommend her.

but enough about jacey – here are her kids. or rather my future son-in-law. yes, it’s true. my daughter will be marrying this cute boy someday. i always tell him that i’ll be a good mother-in-law and won’t meddle in their lives. he always rolls his eyes at me. he’s a great kid and i’m proud to be his future mother-in-law.

ain’t he just the cutest thing?????

and his big sister…..she is everything i want my daughter to be. smart, funny and not afraid to speak her mind. i could have spent all day with her. she was so beautiful to photograph. her mom doesn’t know it yet but i’m going to take her away for another fun shoot. she’s truly a great young lady.

the brother and sister relationship between them is priceless. they’re sweet to each other but then give each other a hard time – then right back to being sweet. i loved being with them.

thanks l & z – i loved spending the afternoon with you….
